"Trest" has always been considered a natural gem of this area and the entire Petrovac na Mlavi municipality. The picnic area is located on the western slopes of the Homolje Mountains, a distinct hilly mountainous area of a very specific look. It resembles a large funnel open to the northwest, and along the rim bordered by wreath-shaped limestone mountains. The area covers 1,033 hectares. It is a habitat to large game but the trout fishing is also possible.

The Trest picnic area, which is about twenty kilometers away from Petrovac, can be reached by the road that leads to the village and the Vitovnica monastery. The route continues on macadam, winding along the river Vitovnica and after 9 km you reach the picnic area Trest. The whole area is suitable for camping.

Trest is surrounded by the mountain peaks of Vranj, Kobilja glava and Fik, so it is an ideal place for hiking. There are Hajdučka and Pogana caves. The Vitovnica river springs at the foot of Fik.
